Ideas for Factsheets

The CLAPA council members are going to produce some factsheets written by children and young people for children and young people. The sheets will cover lots of topics relating to having a cleft. There will be a competition in the christmas edition of Left Clip, which is due out in a couple of weeks, for your ideas about what subjects the factsheets should cover. We need specific ideas rather than big topics. So you might think it would be great to have some information about operations; We need to know which (specific names) operations? Football Camp

Football camp was the best ! I really enjoyed it I got along with everyone we all had a great time ! On Friday we had a presontation , there was a Player Of The Week award. The last week the coach Alf kept on talking about me , saying how good I am and how I listen and do everything so well. Everybody was saying I would get the award ........ and I did !

Do you have an under bite as a result of your cleft palate?

I was born with a cleft palate which has caused me to have an under bite. I had four operations to put my cleft palate right. Within a year I will have surgery to sort out my under bite.

Don’t be scared if you are going to go through the same thing. Your friends, family or carers will be there with you every step of the way. Although it is very scary to think about the operation you always have to have the end product in mind. You will look so different and feel very good about yourself.
