Do you have an under bite as a result of your cleft palate?
I was born with a cleft palate which has caused me to have an under bite. I had four operations to put my cleft palate right. Within a year I will have surgery to sort out my under bite.
Don’t be scared if you are going to go through the same thing. Your friends, family or carers will be there with you every step of the way. Although it is very scary to think about the operation you always have to have the end product in mind. You will look so different and feel very good about yourself.

Hello Chloe, how are you . I am a student at Tower Hamlets College and I am studying childcare and it is my first year. I am enjoying the course. I also have a cleft lip and find it hard to make friends. In my spare time I watch Tv (really like East Enders), do my course work and sometimes read books. I especially enjoy reading about real life stories.
Thank you for your advice on operations because I am also going to have an operation soon.I hope your opearation goes fine and ok. I would very much like you to reply to my message and hope to hear from you soon.

I do have an under bite. The strange thing is when my dentist and I were talking about the surgery, he stated that not only will I have to have my lower jaw moved, I will also have to have my upper jaw relocated. Is this the same with you? He says that it is a very common procedure, yet I’ve gotten a different opinion from one of my plastic surgeons.

im Rachael and im 17 from north wales.
I also have an under bite due to my cleft, and am looking at corrective surgery in december 2010
im in a similar postion to Elizabeth in that i am having my top jaw moved as appose to my bottom one. This is the situation for me as my top jaw hasnt grown as much as the bottom :(
